We are big fans of 70’s era gear. In many ways, we feel this was a peak in home hifi. One area where things fell short was in the speaker connection. Most of the 1960’s era amps and receivers used terminal strips. Basically, a row of screws to attach the speaker wires to. Preferably with a proper connector, but these worked pretty well with bare wire too. In the 1970’s, various push button “quick connectors” were introduced. Much easier to connect, and worked well with the common small gauge speaker wire. With the introduction of “Monster Cable” there were problems. We are seeing more and more of these connectors fail for various reasons. This mod uses high quality five way binding posts mounted on ebony. The example shown is a Sansui AU-717.
