SOTA Moonbeam III

SOTA Moonbeam III

We are often asked if any new turntables were worth owning.  There is a growing number of  poor quality turntables and record players offered for sale today.  Some are even made to resemble classic turntables from the past.  Not only do these turntables and record players provide a very poor musical experience, they can actually damage your valuable records.

The good news is that there are are in fact new turntables being produced today that offer the sort of quality and performance that we enjoyed from the classics.  Even better news (in our opinion) is that this  particular brand is proudly manufactured in the USA.

The SOTA Moonbeam III is a belt driven turntable, featuring a 24 pole AC synchronous motor. The same type of motor used in many  classic and high end turntables. The benefit is that there is no need for a manual speed adjustment, and near zero speed variation over time.

The platter is a high-density precision machined polymer. Unlike metal or glass, it is virtually inert. The Moonbeam platter bearing consists of a teflon impregnated material called Turcite™, and is completely self lubricating. The S202 precision tonearm is a straight, fixed-head tonearm with near frictionless movement. This design offers maximum rigidity, optimal coupling of cartridge to arm, and minimizes spurious resonances.
